A wink & a Smile

One of my favorite things to do is collect, make, read and watch anything burlesque. Dita Von Teese is of course one of my favorites but burlesque is a dying art ! Something I would love to perform. I think every woman has little pin-up stripper in them. Some of us just take off our clothes and lay there. There are certain places on a man's body other than his "thing". Your hot breath on his neck is a hot spot and a nibble on the earlobe works too. I am not the most daring person in the bedroom but when my bra and panties match, I feel like ninja and I can take anyone down. Some women don't feel it necessary for frou frou lingerie in the bedroom. I'll bet my life when you have something sassy underneath you'll feel the same way.

I came across this documentary on a burlesque school in Seattle, Wa. Yes, a school. They teach you the basics and students perform a recital at the end. You become aware of your body and what you are capable of doing with it. You don't have to be a stick to look good naked in front of your partner. I'm convinced once they see nipple, they are done for. The students created an alter ego - some of them are just as strange as can be and others are more of a self discovery. All ages by the way!

They all had one thing in common. Their sexuality, feeling desired and free. We all don't have that super power. No matter what age, size, or sex you are SEX is important. I do feel terrible for the people who don't get to experience sex. There is someone out there for everyone, it's getting out there and trying it out - like new shoes. I don't want to sound shallow about it but - everyone is replaceable, when love is involved its getting over it, is the hard part. But back to the subject ... being sexual drives women and men to feel complete. We both have to do our part in the bedroom and make it at least a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10.

I suggest every woman watch this film. It's enlightening.

Busy as a Bee ...

I have been quite busy the past few months . Starting with my samples being made, a bridal show, my best friend moving to New York City, starting back to school for my B.F.A in Costume Design, moving into a new apartment and launching my "Slumber Pj" Collection online.

I recently unveiled the samples from the Signature collection for Priscilla Jade and the "Behind the Veil" Bridal and event show. I participated in the event to reach the Bridezilla's of Miami. I picked up a few potential clientele to create custome bridal lingerie, garters and accessories.

Here are a few photos from the event.

The last photo is the Signature line samples.

On July 25th, I launched my 100% cotton "Slumber Pj" collection. All sets come with a pair shorts and different style tops. The collection is made for all ages of comfy tushys ! Pajama pants are also available. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery as all pieces are made to order.

Earlier this week I had a production meeting regarding the signature line. It had taken me some time to contract a seamstress to produce my samples and produce orders. Through 6 months of searching and only one prototyle to show for it, I have found the ONE! Hidden ... in Miami ... without hesitation ... she has agreed to work with the samples and patterns I have to create and perfect each piece.

In addition we will produce the "little black panty" collection. Just as every girl needs a little black dress - she needs a little black panty.

Both our Signature line and "Little Black Panty" collections will be out Fall 2009. Stay tuned !

Take a peek at our new look at www.LingeriebyPJ.com.

Noxzema vs. Venus Sea Breeze

I'm always up for trying new beauty products.   When I was younger I ripped out every page and home remedy for hair, make-up and skin out of my YM and Seventeen Magazines.  Along with trendy new work outs for my hot beach bod at the age of 14.  Needless to say, I can't walk out of a CVS with out buying something.

I know products that wont work for me and the ones that do.  I love Maybelline cosmetics,  the Colossal Lash mascara is better that the XXL Volume Lash - the one with the white lash extender ... it flakes and bits of mascara gets in your eyes.  And really doesn't add volume.  I attended the Shecky's Girls night out event with a friend and received a VIP bag of goodies.  Noxzema had some new products out.  One is a bikini area ointment and a new disposable razor. Then I tried to remember if they even still sold their face wash?

I used my Venus Sea Breeze razor and followed with the Noxzema bikini ointment. I usually use my old trick of applying deodorant.  I know it sounds strange, but you only need to put it on your bikini line, NOT ANYWHERE ELSE! Just like an upside down triangle.  The anti-perspirant helps keep the area dry and helps razor bumps from happening.  I didn't see much of a difference in using one or the other.

When my gel bars ran out on Venus Sea Breeze razor I proceeded to use the Noxzema disposable razor.  The razor did not look as appealing as my other razor, and appeared to be a little old school with a lime green high tech handle.  The experience wasn't what I had thought.  Afterwords, my legs began to itch like crazy and you can imagine the jiggly leg dance I did until I found a moisturizer.  It felt as if my skin had begun to shrivel, and dry up and cracking at each hair follicle.  When you get out of the shower this is the last thing you want to happen.  I was pissed and went back to my shower and took another look at the bag the razor came in.  Aloe vera bands around the blades ... bullshit they feel like plastic.  Helps prevent hair regrowth ... yeah because I'll need to have my leg amputated.  Then looking at the high tech hydraulic spring action handle was just ridiculous!  No one squeezes a razor that hard to shave their legs.

My vote, treat your legs to something other than soap or shaving cream.  The Venus Sea/Spa Breeze razors have a light gel that covers your legs.  You get out of the shower with smooth legs.  Make sure to put it back on the holder so the gel bars dry correctly.

tah tah !

Material World 2009

Each year, I attend a convention for designers, Material World.  They exhibit new technologies, fabric and trimming wholesalers, seminars and any thing else you need to make a garment.  I have been going to this convention for over 3 years now.  I even made a special trip to the one in NYC a few years ago.  As a designer, the hardest part is sourcing and knowing the quality of the products you want to use.  Here you can see and feel for yourself and build relationships with the distributors.   I bumped into old classmates and teachers from the Miami University of Art & Design.  I registered for  a few seminars on new trends, color stories, and was able to hear from local designers on their experience in the industry.

Non the less, I found everything I need !  There are usually ridiculous minimum yardage or quantities for orders.  Since the economy is the way that it is, distributors are lowering the minimums and really working with the designers.  I have sourced my own fabrics for my collection that will be out this summer, but anticipating the next collection.  One of the exhibitors I met was a family owned business from Canada.  They wholesale elastics and custom tags, pretty much my one stop shop.  Ironically, her and her family were staying in a hotel just behind my apartment in Coconut Grove.  She is a bride to be and gave her the 411 for shopping and directed her to the fabulous Miracle Mile, aka  Bridezilla Alley.  I am really looking forward to working with her and adding special details to Priscilla Jade Lingerie.
